Studio Membership
Membership is for those who already working in clay and feel comfortable working independently without instruction.
We offer two monthly membership options at the moment; Half Shelves for $120/month and Full Shelves for $155/month. We try to maintain a balance of different types of studio members ie. wheel throwers, hand builders, etc., as well as experienced potters, those just beginning their studio practice, and working artists from both self-taught and academic backgrounds.
Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance. Acceptance is based on the amount of space we have available, if the candidate can work independently, maintaining a spectrum of skill levels in our studio, and applicants who align with our shared studio values.
Priority is given to previous students who have taken classes with us already. We will only be accepting 20 members for the time being.
We cannot accommodate production potters at this time.
Membership includes:
24/7 Access using personal Butterfly pin code
There are two work spaces and a dedicated glazing area. During classes, one studio will always be fully open to members.
The class schedule will be posted on KilnFire for members to access to be able to align their time accordingly for specific equipment needs.
A dedicated shelf space (varying options avail.) to store your work and your own tools
If you need more space, please email us at hello@theceramicsdept.com. We do not offer private studios at the moment.
Use of all equipment:

Access to electric firings (firing fee is $0.05 per cubic sq. inch of each piece for the combined bisque + glaze firing.)
We are slowly bringing the former Uarts kilns back online. Right now, we have 2 Skutt 1027’s. There are several gas kilns on the property that we are working on restoring and 2 large front-loading Bailey’s. We will bring 1 of the front loaders online first for those working large scale.
